Peter contacted us with a rather special request. He wanted to surprise his daughter Vicky with a hut for a special birthday that was approaching.
Peter and Simon (Vicky's husband) visited the workshop to discuss the idea in a little more detail, once we had chatted through the options and decided on the size and spec, we booked in the order and left Simon and Peter to organise the surprise.
Peter asked if we could host a lunch at the workshop in one of our demo huts, of corse we said. As not to raise suspicion Simon had told Vicky she was taking part in a cooking course for the day but instead she would be having lunch in one of our shepherd huts and the surprise would be revealed. We decided much earlier on that we would start to make Vicky's hut once she knew what was happening. This meant that she could choose her colours, fixtures and the finer details of the job.
We decided to include fully glazed double doors and two windows for plenty of natural daylight, 240v electrics, and a 4kw Salamander Hobbit wood stove. We also included our fold down wall bed for overnight stays and bench seating with a dining table. Vicky would furnish the space with her own furniture to add her personal touch.
